Tomorrow Water, a wastewater specialist, has announced that it has teamed with Samsung, Dohwa, and BNZ for a new sustainability initiative. This project will see the partners co-develop an architecture combining data centers with water treatment facilities.

According to Tomorrow Water, placing data centers near sewage plants is advantageous for a number of reasons: the benefit of biofuel, and data centers can also repurpose waste heat and assist in the water treatment process. The specialist has now undertaken this new project, under the brand name “Co-Flow,” whereby a data center and wastewater plant will be linked through their energy and fluid streams.

The company uses a biofiltration water process in its treatment and says that due to this, only a single plot of land is required for both data center and treatment plant as the latter can be submerged beneath the ground, and a data center built on top.
