A new data center facility has been launched in Lhasa, in China’s Tibet autonomous region. The facility currently has the capacity to house 3,000 racks. According to reports, it also provides services for 491 systems from different levels of departments in the region.

Tibet Ningsuan Technology Group, which is partially owned by the government, will operate the data center while also overseeing its construction. The facility is regarded as the highest data center in the world due to its altitude in the Himalayan mountains. The data center project spans an area of 7 million square feet (645,000 square meters). Upon full build-out, the site will house many buildings spanning 4.3 million square feet (400,000 square meters).
