Nautilus Data Technologies has announced that it has signed lease agreements for two new data centers in Los Angeles, California, and Marseille, France. Nautilus noted that its modular floating data center design would ensure that both data centers are developed in under 1 year. Both facilities will have a 7.5MW capacity upon full build-out. However, the LA data center will have an initial capacity of 5MW in its first development phase.
The LA data center will be located at AltaSea, a marine science research hub located at Los Angeles Port. It will also have direct access to the One Wilshire Campus. The CEO of AltaSea, Terry Tamminen, said: "Nautilus will be an integral part of our mission to demonstrate and commercialize marine-related technology in the most sustainable way possible. We're happy to have a data center that is at the forefront of 'blue economy' innovation in our area."
Nautilus noted that its Marseille data center is located less than 3km from the nearest cable landing station.
