US data center company Multacom has been acquired by Australian Edge operator Edge Centres. This week, the companies announced the acquisition. The terms were not revealed. Edge Centres will acquire a Los Angeles-based data center operator, adding 25,000 square feet and 1-megawatt capacity across 250 racks at 707 Wilshire Boulevard to its portfolio. According to reports, 82 percent of the space is occupied.

Built in the early 1970s and known as the Aon Center, the 62-story office tower at 707 Wilshire Boulevard is owned by Shorenstein Properties. The entire structure is approximately 1,100,000 square feet. Multacom, founded in 1997, provides hosting services from three rooms on the fourth floor of 707.

In April 2022, Australian company Edge Centres announced intentions to expand into the United States and raised $5.7 million for its US rollout. It has made several acquisitions in the United States this year. Before deploying a complete data center at the 707 site, the company established a Point of Presence (PoP) in CoreSite's One Wilshire carrier hotel data center in Los Angeles, California.
