Mitsubishi Estate subsidiary Marunouchi Direct Access (MDA) has announced its decision to make three of its Tokyo data centers more sustainable by switching to renewable energy. This switch happened in early February 2022 and was made through the RE100 climate plan using conforming feed-in tariff (FIT) non-fossil fuel energy certificates to track information.

However, the company has not yet disclosed which company will procure the energy and certificates and install on-site energy generation.

In line with the RE100 climate plan initiative, which it joined in 2020, it has pledged to source 100% renewable electricity for its global operations by 2050. Moreover, according to the company, the move to use renewable energy will help cut CO2 emissions by 9,800 tons per year across the three data centers.
