Microsoft has announced plans for an Azure data center region in Belgium. However, it didn’t share details of where the region will be or when it plans to develop it. Yet, just like Microsoft’s other regions, the Belgium Azure region will include three availability zones to enable better redundancy and resilience. Microsoft said the new region would allow organizations of all industries and sizes to access Microsoft Azure. It also added that access to Azure provides cloud capabilities and services that span analytics, databases, Internet of Things, networking, artificial intelligence, and computing.

The development of the region in Belgium comes as part of the company’s Digital AmBEtion investment plan for Belgium. The plan includes creating sustainable societal impact, helping citizens of Belgium develop digital skills, and developing digital infrastructure in Belgium. Microsoft also revealed that the customers of its new region would include Belgian Mobile ID and NMBS-SNCB (Belgium’s national railway service).
