Microsoft Azure: Microsoft intends to invest $230 million in an additional data center in San Antonio, Texas

Microsoft intends to construct another data center in the San Antonio, Texas, region. The corporation stated in applications with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, initially reported by the San Antonio Business Journal, that the project would cost $230 million.

The company intends to construct the SAT80 and SAT81 data center buildings at 18844 FM 1957. In addition, a 106,000-square-foot administrative facility will be constructed. The data centers are scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2024, with construction beginning at the end of July. The corporation recently completed SAT46, a 79,376-square-foot data center on the Research Park campus.

Microsoft is also building SAT15, another facility, at 3555 Westover Link in San Antonio. The facility will be 245,000 square feet and require an investment of $215,9 million; construction is scheduled to be concluded in the first quarter of 2024. In March of this year, the company submitted proposals for a 153,230-square-foot SAT40 data center.
