Chip company MediaTek and Taiwanese telco Far EasTone Telecommunications have signed two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to procure wind energy in Taiwan. Both companies have signed agreements with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to offtake from the Fengmiao 1 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
“This collaboration marks a significant step toward sustainable transformation and carbon reduction in Taiwan. Far EasTone’s commitment to this partnership highlights both its dedication to sustainability and its trust in CIP’s engineering and financial expertise,” said CIP.
Speaking on the financial close, Thomas Wibe Poulsen, partner and head of APAC at CIP, said: “Fengmiao is the first offshore wind project in Taiwan to be supported by a portfolio of corporate offtakers and will deliver much-needed clean energy to large energy users in Taiwan. This sets a new benchmark for Taiwan’s rapidly maturing offshore wind market under the government’s Energy Transition 2.0 policy.”
