Houston-based Lancium recently announced that over the next 20 years, it plans on investing $2.4 billion in the construction of its Clean Compute Campus, a large-scale renewable energy-powered data center in Abilene, Texas.
According to the Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA), the facility will have a capacity of 200 megawatts expandable to a capacity of 1 gigawatt. It will span 100,000 sqft of space.

Commenting on the development, Misty Mayo, President and CEO of the DCOA, said that the company’s plans will ensure the “viability of the community” for years to come by enabling the diversification of the local economy. Reports outline that the project will bring an estimated $993.4 million to the local economy.
