Interlink Telecom (Itel) of Thailand has declared its intention to invest in its data center partnership with Etix Everywhere. In conjunction with Australian firm Edge Centres, the company has also recently debuted an Edge facility. The Bangkok Post reports that Intel revealed plans to invest $20 million.
In 2022, Etix acquired a majority stake in the Genesis data center for approximately $10.8 million. The corporation, which operates a data center in Bangkok's Bang Chalong neighborhood, was founded in 2018 by Interlink, a local IT company called Advanced Information Tech (AIT), and a Thai industrial real estate development company called WHA Corp. Interlink continues to own approximately 33 percent of the facility.
In its announcement, Etix Everywhere stated that the site presently provides 1.2MW and that the upcoming third phase of build-out will add 1.5MW by the fourth quarter of 2024 for a reported $11 million. In the fourth phase, an additional $8 million will be invested to increase capacity by 1.3MW by 2025. In addition, 830 kW of solar panels will be installed on the roof of the building.
Itel also launched an Edge facility in Chiang Mai with Australian company Edge Centres last month. Edge Centres announced intentions for the EC61 facility in August 2022, but Itel was not mentioned. According to the website of the Australian corporation, the facility provides 150kW.
