Web Werks and Iron Mountain plan to invest 170 million dollars in a data facility in Navi Mumbai, India. The envisioned facility, Mumbai-3, will have a 32MW capacity and be constructed to Tier III specifications. The JV already owns a five-acre parcel to develop the data center, which is anticipated to go online in the second half of 2025.
Mumbai-3 already has a permit for a 120MVA power substation for the future expansion of the data center. This is Web Werks' third data center in the Mumbai region, as its name suggests. Mumbai-1 is a carrier hotel, whereas Mumbai-2 is a 6MW capacity greenfield data center. All three are close to one another. The company has constructed seven data centers in India, including facilities in Pune, Bangalore, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, the latter of which was inaugurated under the JV last month.
Iron Mountain stated at the time of the joint venture's formation in 2021 that it planned to invest $150 million over the next two years. The three operational institutions under the JV are MUM-2 in Navi Mumbai, BLR-1 in Bengaluru/Bangalore, and HYD-1 in Hyderabad. Additionally, the JV is constructing data center facilities in Chennai and Kolkata.
