India / Bhārata: India will get a "million qubit" quantum computing machine -centric data center

India's Greater Noida will soon house a data center dedicated to quantum computation. On August 11, the Utter Pradesh (UP) Government and Innogress, a project promoter, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Indraprastha Quantum Data Center (IQDC).

As a joint venture between Innogress and GAN Tech UK, the IQDC has been proposed. Little is known about GAN Tech UK online, aside from the fact that one of its directors, Priyanka Parimal, an Oracle consultant for HSBC, has the same last name as Innogress founder Sumant Parimal.

According to Innogress, the data center will have a quantum computer with a million qubits. Although Innogress claims to be aligned with the industry's leaders, a specific deadline for this initiative has not yet been announced. It is important to note that the current leaders in the quantum computing race only have hundreds of qubits, and Google and IBM have set a 10-year timeline for a 100,000-qubit computer. It is unknown if GAN Tech UK has any prior experience with quantum computing, but Innogress is also 'promoting' a comparable quantum park in Gujarat.

Sumant Parimal, founding partner of Innogress, stated that Innogress and GAN Tech UK are presently seeking quantum computing technology partners for the project, as well as investors for the project's estimated capex of $300 million to $500 million. Google and IBM are investing $100 million in a computing project with 100,000 qubits, a tenth of the computing capacity that Innogress is planning.
