Huawei has announced big plans in Saudi Arabia, with the launch of a newcloud region and the signing of a deal to build data centers with telco STC.
While further details around the giant’s cloud region, its location and specifications are yet to be released, the announcement was made by rotating chairman Guo Ping at the LEAP conference in Riyadh this week.
Commenting on the decision to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia, he said: “Over the past three years alone, many global enterprises have fully embraced digitalization, with the top 10 percent of these organizations growing their revenue as much as five times faster than those who have not embraced digitalization. Huawei’s own customers, partners, and developers can rely on our services to help industries in the region go digital.”
Further to this, its reach will be extended through its deal with STC, which CEO of STC, Olayan Mohammed Al-Watied, said will enhance the “digital infrastructure” and help it drive forward Saudi Arabia’s plan for diversifying the economy by 2030.
