Data Grid Network has purchased a teleport outside of Hannover, Germany. This week, Data Grid, a Commercis firm, revealed that it had acquired the TechnoPark facility between the villages of Hamelin and Aerzen and teleport operator Onlime GmbH. The Talia Communications division of Commercis will run the site. The companies claimed that Talia would have a "secure and central base facilitating further worldwide expansions" on the website. Some sites can access a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network through Data Grid.
One of the biggest in Europe, the freehold facility was constructed by Deutsche Telekom in 1987 and has roughly 32,300 square feet of structures, comprising a data centre, network operations centre (NOC), and technical labs. It is home to more than 50 customer-owned antennas, including 11 m TT&C and 9 m gateway antennas for an "international satellite operator," as well as satellite antennas with a 15 m to 9 m diameter that operates in the C and Ku bands. Before partnering with the Limeline Group in 2014 and changing the company's name to Onlime, the previous owner CET Teleport purchased Stratos and the website in 2008.
Commercis, a holding company for many technological firms, was established in 2020. In addition to Data Grid and Talia, it owns the satellite internet provider Quika, which focuses on Africa, the renewable energy company Evonergy, and the solutions provider Technology Exchange. Talia received assistance from LexQuire Tax & Law, while the seller received counsel from GHMANN Rechtsanwälte und Notare.
