Genesis launches cryptomine in Sweden

Genesis Digital Assets Limited (GDA) has established a crypto mining data center in northern Sweden. Located near the 417 MW Porjus hydroelectric power station, the current capacity of this facility is 8MW, but expansion is planned for the future. It was previously used as a 'traditional' data center and is the company's third initiative in Sweden.

Abdumalik Mirakhmedov, executive president and co-founder of GDA, stated that the expansion of facilities in the Nordics exemplifies the company's unwavering commitment to using renewable energy sources. "We aim to lead the bitcoin mining industry by setting an example for other players by minimizing our environmental impact."

GDA has confirmed that it has taken over the former Etix site. In 2017, EtixEverywhere and ArcticSites established an 8MW data center in Jokkmokk, approximately 40 kilometers south of Porjus. 

There are 92 data centers in Sweden.
