Italian Geoveda Srl has announced that it is pursuing the construction of a green data center in the province of Pisa in Tuscany, Italy. Sourcing geothermal energy from Larderello, the proposed data center will be net-zero and aim for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) below 1.1.

The project, in its first phase, is worth €5 million ($5.8m), financed by the MPS Group. An additional two expansion phases are planned for the future, too. Upon completion, the data center will have 72 racks.

The facility will reportedly house 72 racks when complete. The facility will utilize an existing fiber ring in the area and is aiming to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of below 1.1.
