Italy: Former Waste Management Plant in Tuscany, Italy To Become a Data Center

The Rural Vivaistico Ornamentale District of Pistoia and The CNA Toscana Centro have proposed to develop a data center on a former waste management plant in Tuscany, Italy. Claudio Bettazi, CNA Toscana Centro’s President, said developing a data center in the locality through an excellent public-private initiative would help deliver super-fast connectivity while also activating innovative evolutions that will be applied in economic activities like robotics, big data analysis, and cloud computing.
According to CNA, the proposed data center will be immense for Tuscany and Central Italy. In addition, the data center could also serve as part of a district heating scheme to heat greenhouses, businesses, and local homes. According to the local press, the data center would provide a capacity of up to 20MW while also measuring around 100,000 square meters.
