US data center operator DataBank is transferring its data center portfolio in France to Etix Everywhere and leaving the country. This week, the company owned by DigitalBridge announced that it had reached an agreement with Etix Everywhere to sell all five of its facilities in France (which run as zColo France SAS). Transaction terms, which are expected to close by the end of Q3 2023, were not disclosed. Etix stated that the acquisition would be completed with the assistance of its investor Eurazeo's Transition Infrastructure Fund (ETIF).
The companies stated that they would collaborate under the conditions of a 6-month Transition Service Agreement (TSA) to ensure a seamless transition of consumers and operations. DataBank has three data centers in Paris and one in Toulouse and Montpellier, with 63,760 square feet of elevated floor, 3.7MW capacity, and approximately 1,000 racks. According to Etix, the portfolio can be expanded to 5,4 MW and 1,500 units.
In 2020, DataBank acquired the facilities as part of the zColo transaction. The facilities were acquired by zColo through its parent company, Zayo, through the 2014 and 2017 acquisitions of Neo Telecoms and Green Data Center, respectively. The company's sole extant data center outside the United States is in London.
After Vantage acquired the majority of Etix's European hyperscale footprint in 2020, ASX-listed Global Data Centre Group purchased the remainder of Etix.
