Etisalat just announced its new data center in the city of Kalba, northeast of the country. The data center named SmartHub Kalba, scheduled to open in Q1 of 2022, is Etisalat’s third wholesale data center as it opened two facilities in 2020. Besides, the Kaba facility is built to Tier III standards, and it will be the landing for the new Africa-1 subsea cable.
The Group Chief carrier and wholesale officer at Etisalat, Ali Amiri, commented that the Kaba data center would allow the Company to increase its worldwide capacity to meet the needs of its international clients across the globe. He also added that the Company wants to make its data centers a favored location for internet exchanges, cloud service providers, and carriers.
