The expansion of one of Equinix's Bulgarian data centers in Sofia has been concluded. This week, the company announced the completion of the second phase of its SO2 data center in the capital of Bulgaria. The development, which doubles the site's capacity to 700 servers, cost $12 million, according to Equinix.
The colocation and interconnection provider runs two data centers in Sofia, Bulgaria. SO2 was announced for the first time in 2018, and the first phase, which provides 11,870 square feet of colocation space for 350 IT cabinets, went online in early 2019. It reportedly can be expanded to 1,100 racks.
SOC1 was acquired in 2016 when Equinix took on Telecity. Telecity obtained over the facility in 2013 after acquiring Nikolov's local company, 3DC.
