Equinix has announced that it is expanding its SG5 International Business Exchange data center in Singapore. According to Equinix, the expansion will see it add more than 7,700 square meters (83,000 square feet) of colocation space and over 1,475 cabinets to the facility. Upon completion, the data center will have a total of 2,950 cabinets. The expansion will cost Equinix $86 million.
SG5 IBX is located at the Tanjong Kling data center park in Singapore. The facility also has nine stories, making it the tallest data center in Singapore. The Managing Director of Equinix South Asia, Lee May Leong, said expanding the SG5 data center will allow the company to meet the increasing demand for data center services in the area. Equinix did not reveal when the expansion would be completed.
