EC3 Bendigo: Edge Centres expanding in Victoria, Australia

Edge Centres has announced that it has broken ground on a new edge facility center in Traralgon, Victoria. The new facility named EC8 will be Edge Centres’ second facility in Victoria after it opened EC3 in Bendigo, Victoria. Edge Centres plans to have four new facilities in operation by November 2021. It also has plans to have 20 data centers live by the end of 2022.

The Australian company provides modular ‘off-grid data center facilities powered by on-site green energy connected to the primary grid as backup. The facilities are equipped with 1MW of solar infrastructure with a battery that lasts for 48-hours and UPS backup equipment. CEO of Edge Centres, Jonathan Eaves, said Traralgon is vital to the company’s network deployment from Melbourne to Sydney. He also added Edge Centres is developing a footprint of sustainable and reliable off-grid digital infrastructure in Australia.
