Edge Centres has announced the launch of a new facility in St. Louis, Missouri, its first in the region. Traditionally, its off-grid facilities are powered by on-site wind and/or solar power, with each having 48-hour batteries, and UPS backup equipment supporting 64 1kW quarter racks. However, due to the size and location of its US facilities, it is sourcing power directly from the grid.
On LinkedIn, the company said: "We are proud to announce the launch of EC102 St. Louis." It outlined that in "less than 24 months," it had built and opened facilities in six countries. "In the next 24 months, we aim to continue this rapid growth and open an additional 19 facilities across the US," it said. Adding: "Our capability, passion, and drive have led us to become one of the fastest growing data centre companies in the world.
Meanwhile, Edge Centres CEO Jonathan Eaves said: "We have ambitious plans which are falling into place, and we should be able to announce the next three facility openings shortly. We have another site in St Louis in progress, with Los Angeles and Portland well underway."
According to the company, its sites produce more electricity than they use.
