The US Department of Defense (DoD) is soliciting proposals for a data center security upgrade in Hawaii. On August 14, the contract offer was released, giving businesses three weeks to present their ideas for the DoD's facility. The solution must upgrade the Defense Information Systems Agency Pacific Field Office or Hawaii data center (DISA PAC) security system's head-end servers, the Access Control System (ACS) to include door lock and discharge components, and a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system consisting of cameras, monitors, and Network Video Recorders (NVRs).
The contract's specifications include "current DISA-approved software, virtual access to the three Remote Switching Terminals (RSTs), 24x7 Remote Technical Assistance, next business day advance hardware replacement, [and] Tier 2 support for one year." The security system must be compatible with those at the other nine primary DISA data centers, which the Department of Defense has standardized as the Lenel OnGuard Security System to allow for continuous access. According to an attached document, the DISA will save approximately $3 million in operations and maintenance expenses by implementing a single-brand security system across all facilities.
The data center is probably located on the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickham campus, where several Department of Defense buildings are located.
