Digital Edge begins construction on Tokyo data facility

Jun 07, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

Digital Edge has begun constructing its data center in downtown Tokyo, Japan. A few days ago the company announced on LinkedIn that the building of its TYO7 site had officially begun.

The Singapore-based business revealed plans for a new facility in March 2023. The facility will be situated at 7-1 Nihonbashi Kobunacho, less than 300m from the business's TYO2 facility, and will be built in collaboration with real estate developer Hulic. It is anticipated to be operational by the beginning of 2025. Despite the lack of project details, it is probably the same project as Hulic's previously announced plans to demolish a structure in Nihonbashi and build an eight-story data center there in 2022.

Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners founded Digital Edge in August 2020. The company has 17 data centers in six nations, including South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, India, Thailand, and Indonesia, with a total capacity of over 500MW.

Digital Edge DC has 25 sites.

The nearest station is located within the Yamanote Line. The center can be accessed from Multiple routes by public transportation.
