Digital Edge has completed the acquisition of five data centers in Japan. The company acquired the data centers from ICT Services company Itochu Techno-Solutions (CTC) for a fee of around $230 million. The report also shows that CTC will still be an anchor customer across all the data centers. The data centers it acquired are located in Yokohama, Tokyo, and Kobe. Digital Edge has now added 18.5MW of capacity and 5,000 cabinets to its Japanese portfolio with the acquisition. By so doing, the company’s total capacity in Japan is now 38MW.

CEO of Digital Edge, Samuel Lee, said the company is constantly seeking expansion opportunities in Japan. He noted that CTC’s enterprise adaptation of cloud services and its reputation means the partnership is a win for both companies and their customers. In addition, Digital Edge revealed that it had acquired the underlying properties in four of the five data centers. The company says it plans to explore new greenfield opportunities at the locations.
