Digita, a Finnish tower operator, is separating its data center operations into a new company dubbed Digita Data Centers Oy. The new company will function as a subsidiary of Digita, which DigitalBridge owns. Digital Data Centers Oy will provide colocation, cloud, and connectivity services to enterprise clients from its recently inaugurated Pieni Paja data center in Pasila.
In addition to its proximity to the Finnish Communication and Internet Exchange, the Pieni Paja provides access to 22 telecommunications providers. The data center can support up to 10kW per module and was announced for the first time in 2021, with operations starting in March of this year.
Digita offers digital services and infrastructure to Finland and claims to be the largest independent proprietor of telecommunications masts. The company was founded in 1999 as a spin-off of the national broadcaster Yle. The organization provides services to media outlets, consumers, mobile operators, industry, infrastructure firms, and property proprietors. TDF Group purchased the company from Yle in 2000 and transferred it to First State Investments in 2012. In 2018, DigitalBridge (formerly Digital Colony) acquired the business from First State.
