Digicel has confirmed its plans to deactivate its 2G network in Trinidad and Tobago on March 31, 2024, as it intends to focus strictly on its 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE services. Operators have also reportedly designed technical solutions to eliminate 2G and 3G-only devices.
Reyanne Sobers, general manager of consumer mobile at Digicel, said, "We appreciate our customers’ understanding, patience, and continued trust in our services. This upgrade reaffirms our commitment to delivering the best solutions on Trinidad and Tobago’s most reliable network."
The service provider has urged its customers with 2G SIM cards to trade their SIM cards for 4G-compatible ones without additional cost to ensure that their devices can support at least 3G technology.
