DataVita has announced that it is expanding its Fortis data center in Scotland. The company plans to invest £8 million ($9.3m) in the facility. The plan is to add 400 racks and 5,380 square feet (500 square meters) of space to its flagship data center. The MD of DataVita, Danny Quinn, said: “The expansion of Fortis is part of our long-term plan for the facility and underlines our commitment to providing the best and most energy-efficient data services to private, public, and third sector organizations across Scotland.” He continued by saying: “The additional capacity at Fortis will ensure we can support more organizations with their IT infrastructure, along with our own growth and plans to make the facility even more efficient in the future.”
The Fortis data center is located outside Glasgow, and it is a Tier III data center. It offers four 10,700 square feet (1,000 square meters) data halls across two connected buildings at full build-out. HFD Group developed the data center in 2021. The data center has a PUE of 1.18. DataVita also plans to take the data center off-grid. It will generate its own electricity from wind and battery-powered backup systems.
