Edge data center company DataQube Global Ltd of the United Kingdom has declared bankruptcy. Creditors convened today, August 29th, to deliberate a nomination of liquidators and, if necessary, appoint a liquidation committee. DataQube reps did not acknowledge requests for comment regarding the reasons for the company's insolvency filing and future.
In its most recent balance sheet, dated December 31, 2021, DataQube reported equity of minus $247,150, a decrease from the previous year's balance of $36,600. In addition, it reported increasing debts to creditors.
On 19 July 2023, DataQube CEO Stephen John Pass registered Iconic Data Centres with Companies House. The business displays images of DataQube racks and boasts that it "has developed the world's first podular data centers" (a term DataQube coined to describe its modular data center pods).
Iconic's website also mentions extant internal data center infrastructure, which may have originated from DataQube. Pass and Iconic did not respond immediately to inquiries regarding the nature of the new business and its relationship to DataQube.
