CoreSite has announced that it has gotten approval from Santa Clara’s Planning Commission for the development of a 200,000 square foot (18,500 square meters) 34MW data center in Silicon Valley. The facility is located at 2905 Stender Way. Coresite only got the approval after going through discussions and negotiations for more than a year about the data center. The commission also approved the development of a substation to support the facility.

The SV9 facility is scheduled to be completed in 2023. Preleasing of the data center is also available now. The VP of design and construction at CoreSite, Rob Dean, said the company is very intentional with its approach to data center design. He added that the company’s model is inspired by customer requirements and demand. Coresite saw a setback in the data center development after the Planning Commission delayed approving the project last year. The city council later decided to approve it.
