Marc Allera has announced he will step down as CEO of BT's Consumer division next year. Allera, who has been at BT for 13 years and CEO of the company's Consumer division since 2016, will be replaced by Claire Gillies. BT announced that Gillies has become CEO-designate and will also become a member of the company's executive committee, as part of the transition process with Allera.
"After nine incredible years, I have made the decision to step down as CEO of EE and BT Group's Consumer division in Spring 2025," said Allera. "I will look back with enormous pride in all we have achieved together in my time building this brilliant business with the best team around. We set out on a journey to integrate EE into BT and transform every aspect of the business into a market leader in every dimension - service, innovation, technology, brand, and culture transformation - with our mission to be the most personal technology brand in the UK, serving our 25m customers in communities across the country."
“Marc has been an outstanding leader of BT’s Consumer unit, contributing significantly to the company’s growth, and to multiple key initiatives such as leading the team through the integration of EE into BT Group, the creation of the BT Sport joint venture with Warner Bros Discovery, and launching New EE as our lead consumer brand," said Allison Kirkby. "I am also grateful to Marc for his support to me this year, and for the support I know he’ll give to Claire as they work alongside each other over the next few months. As he moves on beyond BT in the Spring of next year, we all wish him every success."
