atNorth: BNP Paribas To Transfer Part of IT Infrastructure to atNorth's Swedish Facility to Enhance Grid Computing Performance by 20%

BNP Paribas, a long-time client of atNorth, a prominent pan-Nordic colocation, high-performance processing, and artificial intelligence service provider, has revealed that it is still moving some of its workloads to the Nordic area. This will allow the top financial institution to keep up with the rising need for high-performance, data-intensive IT workloads. BNP Paribas' program to update and expand its High-Performance Computing (HPC) server farm, a crucial node for implementations used to calculate positions and potential complications in the financial markets, to atNorth's Nordics data centers, now includes the migration of some other component of its IT burden to the atNorth site in Sweden.
The initial relocation to Iceland in 2018 led to an increase in the overall capacity of about 30%, a reduction in energy use of more than 50%, and an 85% reduction in CO2 emission. BNP Paribas is demonstrating its continued commitment to future-proof its IT infrastructure responsibly and lower its carbon footprint across the whole global organization by shifting further workloads to the atNorth facility in Sweden. Sweden's atNorth data center is one of the nation's most energy-efficient data centers and was designed for heat recovery. The data center is built to have an as little environmental impact as possible. Up to 85% of the power consumed in the center may be used at the site to generate heat, which is then transferred to the central district heating system to generate heat and hot water for the neighborhood. This creative application of extensive heat reuse shows a new generation of data center architecture, which also advances the circular economy.
