Amazon AWS: AWS to open third Edge location in Fortaleza, Brazil

The government of Ceará in North Brazil has announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) will launch an Edge facility in Fortaleza, Brazil. The facility will be AWS’s third facility in Fortaleza. Governor of Ceará, Camilo Santana, said it is the state’s wish to make Ceará the first 100% digital government in Brazil. He noted that the state’s partnership with AWS is a significant step in achieving the goal. He also added that Cearáis the second most extensive fiber optic cable connectivity point worldwide, with the government investing heavily in connectivity to all municipals in the state.

AWS’s Edge location in Fortaleza will host the Company’s services like CloudFront and its CDN. AWS general manager for the public sector in Latin America said the Company is delighted to continue investing and expanding in Brazil due to positive feedback. He added that businesses and enterprises would enjoy the high data transfer rates and low latency that the new edge location provides in Ceará.
