Amazon Web Services has announced its plan to open a new cloud region in Bangkok, Thailand. The new region will have three Availability Zones, which are custom with most AWS regions. The region is also part of AWS' plan to invest over $5 billion in Thailand in the next 15 years. AWS did not reveal the timeline for the development.

The VP of Infrastructure Services at AWS, Prasad Kalyanaraman, said: "We are committed to supporting Thailand's digital transformation through our local infrastructure investments and fast pace of innovation, helping Thailand-based customers unlock the full potential of the cloud to transform the way businesses and institutions serve their stakeholders."

He continued by saying: "The AWS Asia Pacific (Bangkok) Region will enable organizations to build with AWS technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning, data analytics, and Internet of Things. With these new tools, AWS is empowering governments to better engage with citizens, enterprises to innovate for their next phase of growth, and entrepreneurs to build businesses and compete on a global scale."

AWS also has plans for a Local Edge Zone in Thailand's Bangkok. Some of the companies with regions in Bangkok include Alibaba, Tencent, and Google.
