Amazon AWS: AWS buys 42-acre of land in Warrenton for $40 million

According to Fauquier Now, Amazon Web Services has acquired a 41.7-acre land in Warrenton, Fauquier County, for $39.7 million. The land it acquired is on Blackwell Road, Lee Highway. With each acre costing $952,000, this is reportedly the biggest real estate transaction in the history of North Virginian County. AWS purchased the land from Weissberg Investment Corp (WIC).

Amazon Web Services revealed that it plans to build a data center facility on the land. However, it hasn’t filed planning documents with the local officials. The Town Manager, Brandie Schaeffer, said Amazon is yet to submit an application for the data center. She also revealed that the Company hadn’t provided the layout or design for the facility. However, Brandie further added that it is possible to see an initial application before the year runs out.
