Amazon Web Services has announced another Top Secret cloud region to host classified government data. The new region will operate workloads at the Top-Secret United States security classification level, which is the highest security classification in the US. The new Top-Secret West region will add multiple availability zones that are separated from the AWS Top Secret East region geographically. According to AWS, both regions are over 1,000 miles apart.

The company noted that the two Top Secret Regions would allow US intelligence, defense, and national security customers to deploy multi-region architectures to attain the highest levels of availability and resiliency needed for their most critical security missions.
