Equinix: Astra Establishes a Partnership With Equinix For a Data Center in Jakarta

Astra has joined Equinix's plans to develop a data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. This week, Astra and the colocation company announced a new joint venture, with Equinix holding 75 % of the new endeavor. The initial proposal for this joint venture is to build and operate a JK1 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Jakarta's central business district, followed by expansion in Indonesia. JK1 is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024, will span eight floors, and is anticipated to provide more than 1,600 cabinets and more than 57,050 sq ft of colocation space. In October 2022, Equinix announced its intentions for JK1 and to invest $74 million in the endeavor. According to Equinix's Q4 2022 earnings presentation, the building will be leased after the first 575 racks are operational in Q4 2024.
