Ascenty Rio de Janeiro: Ascenty opens two data centers in Rio & Hortolândia, Brazil

Ascenty has announced the opening of two new data centers in Hortolândia and Janeiro, Brazil. Brookfield Infrastructure Partners and Digital Realty jointly own the data center firm. Ascenty opened its second data center at its RIO campus with 3MW of power and 3,000 square meters (32,300 square feet) of space. It also opened its fourth data center in Hortolândia with 3MW of capacity and 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet) of space. The two facilities cost Ascenty BRL 160 million ($28.5 million).
The development sees Ascenty’s RIO campus now have 10,000 square meters (107,700 square feet) of space and 13MW of capacity. Its Hortolândia campus also has 13,000 square meters (140,000 square feet) of space and 23MW of capacity. The VP of Ascenty’s marketing and institutional relations, Roberto Rio Branco, said Rio de Janeiro is the second-largest economy in Brazil, making an expansion of the RIO facility an easy decision. He also noted that the company chose to expand in Hortolândia to provide digital infrastructure to a major technological hub.
