Ascenty: Ascenty joins UN Global Compact (Organization of United Nations) in Brazil

Ascenty is the latest signatory of the UN Global Compact (Organization of United Nations) in Brazil, it has been announced. The Global Compact is a voluntary initiative that launched back in 2000 which encourages companies to adopt and promote ten universally accepted principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, which are as follows:
- Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;
- Principle 2: Businesses should ensure they are not complicit in human rights abuses,
- Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
- Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
- Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
- Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation,
- Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
- Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
- Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies,
- Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Ascenty shared that it is the only Latin American data center company to have committed to the initiative. In addition to this, those who are signatories are also responsible for contributing to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking about this, Fábio Trimarco, Compliance and Quality director at Ascenty, said: “By joining the Global Compact, we are committed to annually reporting our progress in relation to the Ten Principles, which encourages the constant evolution of our sustainable practices."
Adding: “This initiative is fundamental for understanding what are the gaps in improving our sustainability, as well as participating in a community with a holistic view on the subject, which gives us the opportunity to learn about the best practices for solving problems similar to ours."
