Ascenty has broken ground on its fourth data center in the Sao Paulo region of Brazil. The new data center will have 7,000 square meters of space while also offering 9MW of capacity. Ascenty says it will be investing up to R$220 million (US40.9m) in developing the facility. The data center is scheduled to come online in December. The addition of the new facility will increase the company’s data center footprint in Sao Paulo to 33MW.
Ascenty also revealed that it has plans for two more data centers in the region this year. It also wants to develop a total of 5 data centers this year. Ascenty is controlled by Brookfield Infrastructure Partners and Digital Realty. The company has a goal of increasing its capacity to 368MW from 245MW before the year runs out. Ascenty has 28 data centers across Mexico, Chile, and Brazil. 19 of these data centers are in operation, while the other five are under construction.
