A new campus in the Japanese prefecture of Kyushu is being built by a US investment company that plans to expand into the data center industry. According to Nikkei Asia, the U.S.-based investment firm Asia Pacific Land (APL) intends to construct a $845 million facility in Kitakyushu.

Per reports, APL intends to build a 150MW campus. The proposal to sell municipal land for the data center was disclosed in a city proposal submitted to the city council on Friday. The value of the 6.78 million square feet of land exceeds $13.7 million. If the sale is approved, the transaction could close as early as next month. APL invests in real estate, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure. This appears to be its first investment in a data center.
