Amazon AWS: Amazon signs PPA with Clean Energy Connect (CEC) for solar in Japan

Amazon has announced that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Clean Energy Connect (CEC), a solar power company in the Itochu group for solar energy. 

Through the 20-year corporate PPA, CEC will invest more than 10 billion yen ($75 million) by 2024 for the development of small solar power plants for Amazon's sole use at around 700 locations in Japan, totaling 38MW.

With a total capacity of 38,000 kilowatts, this is the largest corporate PPA in the country. 

The output of CEC's small solar power plants at 5,000 idle sites in Japan would have an output equivalent to one small thermal power plant.
