Amazon will invest $4 billion in AI startup Antropic, becoming its primary cloud provider. This announcement comes after the giant tech companies worldwide raced to benefit from the breakthroughs Antropic could have on their businesses.

Antropic, considered one of the world’s most promising AI startups, operates an AI-powered, text-analyzing chatbot. With this investment, Amazon entered the rivalry race with Microsoft and Google, which have also invested billions into this startup technology.

Following this investment by Amazon, its employees and cloud customers will have early access to Antropic’s technology, which can be infused into their businesses. In return, Antropic has also primarily committed to using Amazon’s cloud services. Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, noted that a deeper collaboration between firms will improve customer experiences.

Andy Jassy, Amazon CEO, added, “Customers are quite excited about Amazon Bedrock, AWS’s new managed service that enables companies to use various foundation models to build generative AI applications on top of, as well as AWS Trainium, AWS’s AI training chip, and our collaboration with Anthropic should help customers get even more value from these two capabilities.”
