Great news for AWS as the company has had its rezoning request in Culpeper County approved. The company requested 243 acres of farmland in the Northern Virginian town of Stevensburg, and the Board responsible for voting on the decision voted 4-3 in AWS’ favor. AWS plans to develop a data center campus with two buildings spanning 430,000 square feet. The land is located at 20420 Germanna Highway in Culpeper.

The Chairman of the Culpeper County Planning Commission, Gary Deal, said an economic project like that of AWS is important. He said the county has to approve some of it as the $5-$8 million yearly income is needed. AWS plans to invest up to $500 million in the development of the campus.
