Charter Communications to invest in Texas network expansion

Dec 11, 2023 | Posted by Abdul-Rahman Oladimeji

Charter Communications has announced that it will be investing over $1.3 billion in Texas as part of its network expansion through its Spectrum brand. The telco will pour the funds into expanding its network coverage in areas of the state that are currently underserved.

Charter Communications regional vice president for government affairs, Todd Baxter mentioned that this investment is split into two, with the first $700 million going towards network evolution and the second half going towards expanding the company's fiber optic network in more than 50 counties.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “Today's $1.3 billion investment in infrastructure and technology from Charter will help bring broadband access to more Texans. With this new investment, Texans who live across the big and beautiful reaches of our great state will have the same Internet access that those in big cities do. That is a critical tool to keep our economy booming, children learning, and families connected to the best healthcare facilities in the world."
