Orlando Sentinel reports that HostDime's long delayed data center construction project is back on track. Construction will begin this summer and plans to open next year.

Orlando Sentinel:
After nearly three years of delays, HostDime said Monday it is set to begin construction this summer in Eatonville on its seven-story, 90,000-square-foot data center and headquarters.

The $25 million project will be built on 5 acres of land facing Interstate 4 along a stretch of Wymore Road.

HostDime paid $1.4 million to Orange County Public Schools for the property and broke ground in 2016 but the project hit a snag the following year because of construction ona similar data center in Brazil, according to CEO Manny Vivar.

“We were taking on too much in too little time, so our engineering team had us focus on finishing that,” he said.

After the Brazil center was complete, the data center company switched its focus back to the Eatonville project but construction costs had risen, causing a further delay.

“When we tried to get updated bids, it seems like every construction company in Orlando was busy so it literally increased the project cost by 30 percent,” Vivar said.
