Evolution Data Centres has announced the launch of its new Sustainable Data Centre Charter, through which it measures its entire operations, with the aim of minimizing carbon intensity and limiting water usage as the company grows.
The charter includes the target of emitting 20 tonnes of carbon emissions per GWh by 2030, which is compared with 1263 tonnes of CO2/GWh (used in IT load) without action. The company has also partnered with ENGIE Impact, to push forward these goals.
Speaking about the new charter, EvoDC chief executive Darren Webb said that it demonstrates the company's "long-term commitment to sustainability" and will "ensure that we consider the environmental impact of every aspect of our data centre development and operation." He added:
"We have deliberately set ourselves ambitious targets and will be held to account by the annual publication of our performance."
Meanwhile, ENGIE managing director for APAC Malavika Jain Bambawale commented: "We are pleased to support EvoDC with their sustainability charter which sets out a clear decarbonisation roadmap for implementation across markets."
