Microsoft may be moving into Newport, Wales it has been announced. Reports are circulating that the giant has bought a one million square foot (92,900 sqm) factory in the area. Located next to Vantage's Newport campus, the factory was previously occupied by Quinn Radiators.

Despite these circulating reports, there are, in fact, no planning applications for the site. However, back in July of last year, the City Council had granted permission for the site to be converted into five separate businesses.

While Microsoft not has made a direct statement related to the acquisition of the land, in a statement, it said: "Microsoft has been investing in data centres in the UK for more than six years and we believe there is a great opportunity for Microsoft's cloud services to support local business growth and innovation. We don't have anything definitive to share at this time, but can confirm we are committed to supporting digital transformation in the UK with the Microsoft cloud."
