UK fiber firm CityFibre has applied for permission to install two data center cabins in Newark, Nottinghamshire. It filed with Newark and Sherwood District Council to install two data center cabins and associated air conditioning units, meter cabinet and fence, and generators on land on Cliff Nook Lane in Newark. CityFibre wants to install a 2.4-meter palisade fence, two generators, and ten air conditioning units.

The land of choice is part of a large industrial land close to the East Coast Main Railway line. CityFibre described the land as underused, unkept, and derelict. It says developing fiber broadband exchange on the land would make the area economically viable due to its better connectivity. CityFibre plans to develop the cabins in two phases.
